There can be a need for open spaces in our lives. Nature’s Rural Retreat provides a place where in a day you not see as many people as you may see in few minutes during your normal day. The place is a sanctuary for ourselves, which we have decided to share with others. Comfort with simplicity is the goal, no place to go except to look at the wildflowers or to sit on the porches and read a good book. NRR is surrounded on three sides by native grass pasture, which invites hikers to look around. We even provide walking sticks, which Randy makes from sturdy tree branches. Dried “cow pies” can be collected in our fire pit if one wants to feel like a Native American or early European settler. Chokecherries and plums grow wild, and Cathy often makes them into jelly. She would be willing to give lessons or sell some. Our goal is to give a refreshing experience to those who come and stay. At night, the quiet is almost deafening, but then the coyotes begin to howl inviting a good ghost or Native American folk tale. Speaking of Native Americans, we own pasture land nearby in which one can imagine life in the past or search for artifacts.
